The Wildlife Ecology and Restoration Lab at Clemson University is currently
looking to fill a PhD position on the ecology and restoration of cheetahs.
Specifically, the identified student will investigate the ecological and
management factors that contribute to successful reintroduction and management
of cheetahs in parks and reserves in South Africa. In addition, it is expected
that the student will identify additional lines of investigation into cheetah
ecology. Accordingly, we are looking for a PhD student who has both a strong
background in ecology, and interest in applied wildlife conservation.

Applicants must possess (or expect to possess by start date) an MS degree in
wildlife biology, ecology or related field. Applicants should also have an
interest in working with relatively large existing dataset and conducting field
work in South Africa. This will include collaborating with reserve biologists,
technicians, and researchers at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Priority will
be given to applicants with advanced writing and quantitative skill sets that
are evidenced by past peer-reviewed publications.
Funding for the salary of the PhD student is secured for 4 years through a
combination of research and teaching assistantships, with the expectation that
the student will work with advisors to help draft grants to fund portions of
field work.

To apply, please email a single pdf with the subject line "Cheetah PhD
Assistantship" containing (1) a cover letter outlining your interests,
experience, and contact information, (2) a resume or CV, (3) GRE scores, (4)
undergraduate/graduate transcripts, and (5) contact information for 3
references to Dr. David Jachowski at
djac...@clemson.edu<mailto:djac...@clemson.edu>. Applications will be accepted
until October 2, with the expectation of the student starting at Clemson in
January 2016.
