Ph.D. position: Invasion and fire ecology, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
Applications are invited for a funded PhD graduate assistantship in invasion and fire ecology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Research will focus on quantifying and modeling changes in fuels, fire behavior, and tree regeneration in oak-hickory stands invaded by non-native grasses. The ideal candidate will possess a Master’s degree by the starting date and prior research experience and/or demonstrated competency in forest ecology. Applicants should have strong quantitative skills and an interest in field work and modeling. Experience with database management systems, R, and GIS are desirable, but not necessary. Strong writing skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and the desire to work in a team are essential.
