******************* Andean Aposematic Poison Frogs; A Field Guide Tuesday, 21 June 2016 — 6:00pm to 7:30pm American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Abelson/Haskins Room (2nd floor) 1200 New York Ave NW Washington DC 20005 (Metro Center Station) Please join the AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships and the AAAS Fellows Biodiversity Affinity Group in a conversation with Conservation Zoologist, Author, and Scientific Illustrator Ted R. Kahn. Ted will discuss dendrobatid (Poison Frogs) conservation status in the Andes, a major Hotspot, the frogs’ alkaloids and medicinal potential, as well as the creation of his most recent book: Aposematic Poison Frogs (Dendrobatidae) of the Andean Countries: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. Speaker: Ted R. Kahn Executive Director, Neotropical Conservation Foundation & Data Development Specialist under contract to the Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of Natural History. Ted’s paintings are prominently featured throughout this volume. Sixty-three coauthors collaborated over a ten-year period to bring the full depth and breadth of our current knowledge of these Neotropical frogs to life. The goal was two fold; to bridge the gap between the up and coming future generation of researchers by building a bridge between them and the outgoing generation of researchers who’ve also contributed to this notable volume; one of the most comprehensive of its kind.
