JOB OFFER in Insect Ecology

At the Institute of Ecology,
Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena in Germany,
the following position is available in the group of Wolfgang W. Weisser:

Postdoctoral position in Ecological Entomology (Ref. 23/2010)


We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with
a strong track record in analysing the ecological
interactions between plants, insect herbivores,
and their natural enemies, using laboratory and
field experiments and/or molecular approaches.
Candidates interested in this position should
have a B.Sc./M.Sc. in a relevant field and a
Ph.D. in Ecological Entomology or a related area.
The successful candidate is expected to build up
his own research group and apply for third-party
funding. The position comes with a teaching
obligation of up to four hours per semester.

The position is initially for two years but can
be extended to up to five years. We expect the
candidate to have good communication skills and
the ability to work in a team. Fluency in English
is a prerequisite and the successful candidate is
expected to learn some German after arrival even
though teaching will mostly be in English.
