I am currently seeking applicants for the Killam Postdoctoral Award at the
University of Calgary. The Killam Postdoc is a prestigious 2-year award,
given by the University of Calgary to an exceptional new scholar (PhD
received or expected Sept. 1, 2008 - Sept. 1, 2011) in any academic field.
The award includes $45,000/yr CAD salary, health benefits, and a $6000
research allowance. Preference is given to candidates external to UCalgary.

Applicants must identify a supervisor and develop a plan for original
research. My lab pursues several lines of fundamental research in
population, community, and evolutionary ecology, with a strong emphasis on
experiments in model systems (both field and lab-based), and on linking
theory and data. I would welcome inquiries from anyone who broadly shares my
interests.

For more on current work in my lab, see
<http://homepages.ucalgary.ca/~jefox/Home.htm>. I have recently developed an
active collaboration with experimental evolutionary biologist Rees Kassen
(UOttawa); see http://mysite.science.uottawa.ca/rkassen//index.html to get a
flavor for this new line of work.

The Dept. of Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary is a large,
research-intensive department with a strong group of ecologists and
evolutionary biologists. See http://bio.ucalgary.ca/ for more on the dept.
Calgary is a vibrant city of over 1 million people, located less than an
hour's drive from the Canadian Rockies, with outstanding opportunities for
both recreation and field work.

For application forms, see http://www.grad.ucalgary.ca/awards

Deadline for applications is Dec. 15, 2010. Interested prospective
applicants should contact me as soon as possible.
