Dear Ecolog community:
We are planning an experiment in which we subject
plants in the field to specific selective
pressures for multiple generations and then use
RNASeq on selected and control plants to examine
changes in the gene expression associated with
selection under these pressures. However, we are
having difficulty identifying sequenced plant
species suitable to our requirements (1. Grow in
the cool temperate climates found in Scotland; 2.
Grow in grasslands; 3. Associate with arbuscular
mycorrhizal fungi (e.g. no pines or Brassicas)).
Thus I ask: Do you know of any ongoing sequencing
projects for the following plant species (or
close relatives of the following plant species)?
Plantago lanceolata, Centaurea cyanus, Daucus
carota (carrot), Trifolium pratense, Pisum sativa
(pea), Bromus hordeaceus, Avena fatua or any
onion species. Any help you could provide or
alternatives you could suggest would be greatly appreciated!
If your group, or a group you know, is involved
in such a sequencing project we would like to
discuss the possibility of using the genome map
in 4-5 years. We would, of course, keep all
information confidential until
publication. Please contact me using the information below to discuss.
Thank you!
