The George Washington University is accepting applications for a tenure-track position in Marine Ecology at the rank of Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences. We are looking for a marine or estuarine ecologist working at the ecosystem or community level. Organismal emphasis is open, and individuals with established research questions that would benefit from the university’s proximity to the Chesapeake Bay area are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an externally funded research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching responsibilities will include an undergraduate course in Marine Biology (with a lab), and a graduate course in biology in the Environmental Resource Policy Program.
Office and laboratory space will be located in the GWU Science and Engineering Hall that opened in January 2015 (http://seh.gwu.edu/about-science-and-engineering-hall). The Department of Biological Sciences offers a wide range of opportunities for collaboration, including a newly expanded ecology group, existing labs working on a range of questions with marine and fresh water organisms, and interaction with the newly created Computational Biology Institute.
