ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - ECOSYSTEM ECOLOGIST  
 
The College of Science, Health, and Engineering at Eastern Washington 
University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the 
Department of Biology in the area of Ecosystem Ecology.  The position will 
begin mid-September 2015.  The successful applicant will be expected to 
teach courses in ecology, ecosystem ecology, and area of expertise, 
contribute to introductory courses, and possibly to the Environmental 
Science Program.  Other expectations include: developing/sustaining an 
active research program, obtaining external funding to support scholarly 
activities, supervising master's theses and undergraduate research, and 
advising/mentoring undergraduate students in Biology and Environmental 
Science. 
 
The Department of Biology includes a diverse faculty and over 450 
undergraduate majors and Masters-level graduate students focusing on 
evolutionary, ecological, molecular, physiological, microbial, and health 
sciences. Eastern Washington University is 15 minutes from Spokane, 
Washington, which has a broad range of recreational an cultural 
opportunities.  The University is located five minutes from Turnbull 
National Wildlife Refuge.
 
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in a biological sciences, ecosystem 
ecology, or closely related field (ABDs considered), as well as a 
commitment to quality teaching of a diverse student population.  Preference 
may be given to candidates who offer at least one year of post-doctoral 
experience, teaching experience in ecology, and/or a research program that 
provides opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
