Dear fellow ecologists, We are planning for a field experiment this coming season to investigate the effect of climate change on the phenology of weedy species, and our candidate species is velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrasti). However, this species has just made on our list so we didn't collect any seeds last summer. We are asking if anyone, or anyone you know, might have a collection of velvetleaf seeds that we can use.
There are some requirements on the seed resources in order to fit our research objectives. We would like those seeds come from field population (i.e. not greenhouse grown or cultivated plants), and ideally from plants grown in agricultural farm such as corn or soybean fields. It is also preferred that seeds were collected in Midwest regions, especially in Ohio or neighbor states. Recent collection (within 5 years) would be great. There could be some flexibility in the above requirements so please don't hesitate to contact me (luoj...@gmail.com) if you do have a collection that only meets some of the requirements. Thanks a lot, and have a nice day. Jing Luo, Ph.D. Post-doctoral Researcher Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, The Ohio State University Phone: 614-292-3176 Email: luoj...@gmail.com
