Ecology of Infectious Disease Postdoctoral Researcher Search Re-opened Postdoctoral Researcher sought to join a newly funded collaborative program examining the interactions between Lyme disease (LD) and Sudden Oak Death (SOD) in California. Principal Investigators on the project are Dr. Richard Ostfeld (http://www.ecostudies.org/people_sci_ostfeld.html) at the Institute of Ecosystem Studies, and Drs. Cheryl Briggs (http://ist-socrates.berkeley.edu/~cbriggs/) and Robert Lane (http://espm.berkeley.edu/directory/fac/lane_r.html) at UC Berkeley. The postdoc will be involved in one or both of two aspects of the project: (1) field and lab efforts to determine the impact of SOD on vertebrate (mammal and lizard) communities, and the impact of altered vertebrate communities on LD risk; and (2) analyses, syntheses, and modeling efforts concerning interactions between habitat change, vertebrate communities, ticks, and the causative agent of LD. The postdoc will be centered at the Institute of Ecosystem Studies and will spend a portion of the year conducting field/lab/modeling work in Berkeley. Ph.D. and excellent quantitative skills are required. Candidates should also be experienced in one or more of the following: (1) mammalian ecology, (2) medical entomology, or (3) GIS and spatial modeling. Desired start date in summer or autumn 2006, for likely 2-year term. Please send CV, representative publications, and three letters of recommendation by email to: Dr. Richard S. Ostfeld, c/o Human Resources, Institute of Ecosystem Studies, Job #06010, Millbrook, NY, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (with a cc: to [EMAIL PROTECTED] ). Review of applications will begin on 1 April 2006.
