Within Subjects Variance

fingerstips of all subjects. Now I would like to look at the within subjects variance of all variables for each group and compare them to see wich one is greater. How would I test if the within variance is the same or not ? (what test would allow me to do that? and How can it be done in S-Plus?) Thank
