well, I didn't actually upgrade the OS, just reinstalled it (tried a different one than I had, didn't work, reverted back). So it's the same OS with the same version of Ekiga. In understand you don't want to spend time on an outdated version, so I'd love to upgrade to 4.0 but don't know how.

You said that you have just upgraded your OS, so the issue could be due to an interaction between ekiga and your system. In Edit->Account there could be additional information about why registration fails. An additional problem is that your -d 4 log is almost empty, due to a build misconfigu
