I'm glad you mentioned it Bob. It's my favorite way to drop a DC supply a few
volts down. I have four 10amp rectifiers here which would give me 2.4V
drop..17.2 - 2.4 = 14.8.

I think that I have found the problem, but have yet to work out a solution.
To combat the lack of TX audio system gain I have a 1 transistor pre-amp mounted

Tim, I had a similar problem with my K2. I was not able to get the full

I see old messages about undercharging the K2's internal battery if you don't
use more than 14VDC for the PS.I had a nice 15VDC 20W wall wart that I
thought would make a perfect PS/charger for the K2. The trouble is while
drawing 350ma in receive the K2 shows a supply voltage of 17.2 VDC.

Hi
I have done this on a number of K1's. I used a Bourns pot with a metal shaft.
The part number from Mouser is 652-3540S-1-104. It cost about $15 with
shipping. It has a much nicer feel than the stock pot and is more rugged if the
knob takes a hit on the front. If you use a nut and lockwasher
I have an early K1 #00427. My tuning pot shaft over the years has got very
loose. I have been looking at a pot in the Allied Electronics catalog that
has a metal shaft with a metal bushing. Would there be any problem using
this pot?

Hi Scott,
Thanks for your interest in the K2/100. I'm sure you'll get many

Well folks another contest weekend is gone...
The K2 was excellent: Some 600+ QSOs with over 400
multipliers. Not bad for hunt and pounce, may have
been a few more if 80 and 10 had been a bit livelier.
I even managed a few 160M QSOs, with a less than
efficient radiator...

I'm looking for a backup, portable, ares rig and have a few questions.
1 At low dc voltage, What is the power output of the k2/100?
2 Has anyone used the k2/100 on pactor III? Are the ssb filter widths an issue?
3 The stock radio has 10 memories? Is there a way to expand this?
Thanks, Scott N2

I have had a problem similar to this. Occasionally when through
talking the K2 does not return in the full receive mode. The rig seems to
be muted. I found early on that by quickly tapping the PTT button that
the receiver returns to full volume. Could possibly be a sticking relay
in my amp.
