Howdy Folks,
With a little help from my friends ECN was able to get folks from
across the continent to participate this evening. 20 meters was much
quieter than 40 but what else is new? KE0X, Rich, in Nebraska responded
to our plea for another state and brought NE to the list. Only three
I have just one bit of advice: TAKE YOUR TIME. When I'm expecting a new radio
to arrive, I want it so bad I can just about taste it. When my K2 arrived, it

i use the "by-ear plus" method to zero beat my KX1 when i need too.
i have the KX1 in the CW mode, and the step tuning in the 100Hz step position.
When i hear someone i want to zero beat i zero them by ear and then go down 6
steps.
It is easy to hear the steps in the 100Hz position.

Hi - I have a brand new unbuilt XV50 6m transverter that I would like to swap
for an un-built OR nicely built XV144 2m transverter. Thanks!

I would use an electrolytic and tantalum; both are small and polarized.
The plus should be up or away from ground.

I have wound quite a few coils and never tight enough to stretch the wire.
However, I find the toroids supplied with kit # 4509 very sharp on the edges
and the red wire especially easy to strip. I didn't need any iron with a
hot blob of solder to strip off the insulationas in the past

It is astonishing to me that the K2 with the teeny-tiny 160 mtr board can do
what it does on this band. It hears so well, and is so immune to IMD from
strong stations sometimes encountered on top-band...

hands free at any moment you want to stop and do something else, too.
