Good Evening All,
The daffodils and other neotenous flowers are blooming in downtown
Portland. Now the progression continues as they gradually bloom further
West and then higher in elevation. In about six to eight weeks they will
be blooming here. I am sure Ms P will enjoy the many flower
Thanks to all who answered my question regarding Microsoft auto-updates
for Windows. The overwhelming opinion is that they are safe and should
be enabled, so I have done dat. Apparently, after the download, the
update actually happens when you shut your computer down.
Thanks again, hope to w
For the life of me I have searched on the Elecraft web page for the K1 Screen
Saver and cannot find it. I got a new laptop and would like to put the screen
saver on but can't find it.

Bill,
That is FB, but just one additional comment - if you are connecting that
supply directly to the battery, you should lower the voltage to about 13.8
volts for a proper float charge - OTOH, if the supply is connected to the
battery through a protective diode, your 14.25 volt supply is correct.
Well, I'm afraid to raise my head after this. About
two weeks ago I raised the question here on the
reflector about realigning my K2. My initial
alignment had went relatively well but did not use
Spectogram. After encouragement from several people
to give it a go I dived right in.

David, I did exactly what Bob is suggesting, and I used one of the extra
ports to connect my small regulated power supply to keep the K2 internal
battery fully charged. I use a 50A - 13.6 VDC power supply and battery
system to operate most of my station equipment including a repeater, but

Rather than attempting to walk you through the steps to bypass the KDSP2 (it
is in the KDSP2 menu which is kicked in with the DISPLAY button, not AFIL).
I suggest you drag out the KDSP2 manual and follow the instructions to put
it into bypass state. Actually, I never remember the exact sequ
Well to start, I dont see a AFIL in the K2 menu and dont see any
switches, jumpers, etc on the DSP board.
Put the DSP in BYPASS mode.

I originally aligned the K2 using Spectrogram and it worked great.
I am doing a realignment and am lost.
I am running a DSP unit and it appears that Toms instructions say that if

Hello Fred,
The updates issued by Microsoft fix security flaws and other
bugs in Windows. It is more safe to install them than not
to. It is also best to install them as soon as possible
after they are released by Microsoft, because computer
criminals often use the information in the security upda
Hi Bob,
Thanks for the suggestion. However, the solution is actually way
simpler than that. All of our un-modules already have a silk-screened pin 1
indicator adjacent to every male header.
Although the K2 RF board silkscreen lacks a pin one indicator at RF-J14,
when properly installed
Hi Bill,
I found that jumpering the BPF or even the LPF when testing, gave me
results similar to what you are seeing. I didn't start to see useful
results until I had all the parts for all three filter sections
completed. Do you have the LPF set up completely?

A suggestion. Place a dot of white paint on one
end of each plug-in rework eliminator and a matching
dot on the same end of the receptacle that it plugs
in to. This will ensure that you always plug them in
the correct way.
Good luck and 73

Why not plug them with appropriate connectors.
Seeing those idle connectors just sitting there
might give you some ideas for a useful mod :-)

To all you PSK-31 folks out there. If you haven't adapted a computer

similar to Tom Hammond's circuit that's posted on the elecraft page to my

It appears that the N3FJP ARCI software should also handle the Elecraft QSO

I finally built my radio, #1348, and it works just fine. Many thanks

No need to re-do the alignment. Later, you will re-peak L1 and L2 in the

Hi All,
Regarding the unused holes on the K2 back-panel.. I've been thinking about
plugging these with rubber plugs, as I think the holes/green tape looks a
little unsightly. I wonder if anyone has done this, and whether anyone knows
a source of plugs that are suitable and the correct size.
