Does anyone have a "feel" for the "safe" power level
that may be used when transmitting digital information
like PSK-31?

Hello all...
I have a Heil Pro headset [boom and phones, etc] that I have had connected
to my FT990 through the appropriate Heil adapter for Yaesu rigs. I'm now
about to go SSB on my #5957 K2, and I would like to use this headset/mike.
How to proceed? Does Heil make an adapter for the K2? If n

Connecting a panadapter *after* the crystal filter would indeed be an
exercise in futility.
The normal connection point is to the post-mixer amplifier ahead of the
crystal filter via a high input impedance buffer amplifier, and thus the

Hi Jimmy,
The K2 with the internal battery and tuner is definitely a top notch
combination!
I use an A&A smartcharger to charge my internal battery. Mine is
setup like Don describes, with a fuse to a plug on the back of the K2.
You'll really enjoy the versatility the internal battery gives.

Hi Jack,
My budget unfortunately doesn't have any room for one of your panadapters
at the moment, but I'm curious anyway: how much bandwidth do your
panadapters show when connected to a K2? Does the bandwidth vary
depending on which crystal filter is selected?

I just built the SSB board for my K2 and want to use an old Kenwood MC-60 mic.
Anyone have any experience with this? If so, I would like to know your settings

modulation level.

That's the Z90/Z91 Panadapter from Jack, K8ZOA. You can learn more about
it on his website, www.cliftonlaboratories.com
You may be able to reconfigure the Z91 into a EC2 case (no display), but
I don't see how you would do the Z90 (GLCD display).

I've got a Z90, and the kit's not very difficult. The display is too
big to fit into a EC-2 case. The width and depth are OK, but it's not
high enough. So, I fabricated a K2-like case from aluminum sheet,
using the little fastener blocks from Elecraft, and it looks good.
It's just about 1 1/2 K2

Steve,
I believe these are both configuring parameters of the KSB2 board (audio level
and compression level). So you can't change them without that. Sounds like you
are trying to use SSB without the KSB2??

I remember reading on this reflector that the spectrographic display

I was wondering whether anyone has considered this to be a worthy

Don,
I am taking you up on your suggestion. I ordered and received the upgrade

Hello Everyone,
This may be a pretty elementary question, but I'll ask it anyway.
Am I correct in concluding that the SSBa and SSBc menus CANNOT be edited
without the KSB2 accessory in place on the K2 RF board? (All I see are --
entries in both menus when I try to edit them.)

Jimmy,
You can keep the battery charged with a power supply that has an output
voltage of 14.1 volts.
OR - you can use one of the Smartchargers to keep the battery charged.
Unfortunately, those require a direct connection to the battery. If you
would like more information on how to do that,
I have a K2 and would like to install the internal battery. What is the best
way to use and maintain this battery? I use the K2 mostly at home on AC and
an occasional visit to a park and etc.
Thanks,
Jimmy

Les,
Check to be certain you have installed Q6 and Q7 the correct way 'round.
Second, what is the value of C31 in your kit? It was recently changed
to 0.22 uf to cure an oscillation that occurred in a few amplifiers with
the new T-R switch design (Rev D manual).
