Yes, it has a legitimate use. It indicates when one person stops talking
during informal use of a radio channel such as when the astronauts are
talking.
It replaces the spoken word over that is standard in professional,
military and Amateur use.
So there are very few situations where it has
OK folks.
That makes good sense to me. I have been arguing the consequences of
using a wide filter mainly to enhance awareness of the facts as I know
them. I really have only sketchy information at this point (no
'hands-on experience), so my response is theoretical and based on a few
