The frequency is 3630 KHz plus or minus the QRM.
The new start time is 0900 hours local (0800 UTC) in an effort
to try and beat the deteriorating summer band conditions.

My K3 has now recovered from en ERR TXG problem. When trying to
transmit, output was close to zero, and I got the error message. It
started happening just after a firmware upgrade, but it turned out to be
a hardware problem on the RF board. The stage after the pre-amplifier,

I just added the 2.1 KHz 8 pole BPF to my K-3. I already have the 2.7 KHz 5
pole, and the 400 Hz 8 pole for cw.
I can get it to operate manually as expected. When I adjust the DSP
bandwidth, I observe the following:
As the DSP readout goes narrower, the filters switch to match the DSP

Isn't there a way to send sequential serial numbers with the K3, or is that
my imagination? I could have sworn I came across that feature while
exploring the K3...

Hi Ron,
To receive (or transmit) ESSB and AM, you need the 6 kHz filter. If you
have only the SSB filter, you can still set the DSP bandwidth (2nd
I.F.) as high as 4.0 kHz, but the crystal filter will limit the first
I.F. bandwidth to under 3 kHz.

I send sequential numbers on CW and RTTY using N1MM and the K3. I do
not know of a way to do this without a computer. I have not heard of
a simple way to do this on voice.
It would help if we knew what mode you were asking about.

The original military specification document, to which the bird43 was built
only requires 10% accuracy (to accomodate "field usage"?)
I did some checking

This is a feature of my Idiom Press CMOS keyer; it's part of the published
WinKey command set, but to my knowledge serial numbers are not supported by
the K3 internal keyer.
For most users transmitting the serial number (and other repetitive parts of

Hi gang,
The weekly Elecraft SSB net will meet tomorrow (Sunday, 5/31/09) at 1800Z.
We will start at 14.316 MHz, and QSY if needed. The net control is in
western Oregon, but we will need a good east coast or midwest station to
relay a few west coast signals that may be too close to net control.
Bob,
Do the math for the percentage accuracy for each wattmeter and I think
you will have a reasonable explanation.
Then you can decide which one that you would rather believe.
The accuracy percentage for any instrument is an important parameter,
and understanding the conditions under which the
I was looking on the Elecraft software site, and saw the K3 EZ utiltiy which
helps with creating/maintaining the K3 configuration.
The K3 EZ info page says that there is a system requirement--.NET FRAMEWORK 2.0
must be installed.
The Microsoft download page for .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0 does not list

Not sure but doesn't Vista come with 2.0 intergraded in the OS.

I really wanted a way to do this with the built in CW memory keyer without a
computer on CW. I could have sworn I saw a way to do it.
It would be great if there was a macro you could insert into a cw memory that
sent incremental numbersfor example, store

Cause if there is.. I want one.. just made that or better, on 20.. 4 times in a
row...wow!
not quite that good on 40.. but not real bad either...
What fun, and tomorrow.. there will be an AT - AT Q too.. more to come about
that one.
Great way to try out a radio.. does it work? Yes it does...
A very late Good Evening to you,
I almost forgot to send this :( I have had a very long and busy day today.
I got a lot done and was just about in bed when I remembered I had not sent my
announcement. The weather has turned downright hot. 80 degrees for two days
