I'm having trouble loading firmware (lastest beta) using 1.3.9.12. Is there
someplace I can find an older version of the utility?

For the first time ever I'm having trouble loading firmware. I'm loading the
most recent 4.14 package posted today using the 1.3.9.12 Utility with the

speed via the menus to a lower number.

I replaced one of these yesterday with one that I picked up from TenTec.
Although the mentioned Heil connector is of good quality, it is quite a bit
longer than others. I much prefer the shorter ones!
The length was enough to make a difference in my shack.

NAQCC Sprint Tuesday night!
This coming Tuesday evening will be the monthly NAQCC Sprint for October, 2010.
I will refer you to the proper URL:

There you will find all the details as to time, frequencies and also a special

Michael,
First a comment - why use SSB FL4 set to 700 Hz width for PSK and have
to remember to turn the compression off when using digital modes? It is
much easier (IMHO) to go to the secondary menu and turn the RTTY filter
set on. That gives you a compression setting independent of that us
Hi Don
Thanks for your answer.
I have now done a realignment using Spectrogram as I did originally. I
believe using the exact same instruction.
I might have asked this 4-5 years back but maybe without prober explanation,
any way I do not recall the answer.
Setting the LSB FL4 for PSK to a
Once we determined that the problem was probably particular to my unit,
I ran the synthesizer calibration as Joe suggested - but to no
improvement (wait, there's more - Joe was on the right track). So I
called Dale Farmer who had me display the PLL voltages (tap "DISP"
button and then turn VFO-B)
There was a firmware fix for this posted earlier today (or maybe yesterday?).
4.14 for the K3.

The DC current from the centre pin of ant 3 is intended for switching equipment
not for powering preamps. The output is current limited to just a few ma so
would not be able to power any preamp

Doug,
There had been an issue with the P3 not receiving band update
information from the K3 under certain conditions (e.g. when K3 bands
were turned off with the band map) but that was fixed several revisions
ago in K3 firmware.
Also, a new version of K3 beta firmware (4.14) has just been release
K3 beta-test firmware revision 4.14 is now available. The most
important change is to the behavior of the A/B and REV switches when
the K3 is used with a P3. (See release notes below.) You'll also need
to install revision 0.36 or later of P3 firmware, if you haven't
already.

Yes. When the sub is on a hold of RX ANT toggles between the shared
ANT with the main RX and its AUX setting, in your case that would be
what is connected to the BNC.

I ran into the exact same thing this weekend. I have also noticed several
times if I change bands the P3 will not follow the new frequency of the K3.
A power cycle resolves this but.
When I get a chance I will try to establish the exact conditions of when
this occurs.

Rich,
Just a comment on what you said here - ALWAYS use a stereo plug in the
rear speaker jack.
Using a mono plug has been responsible for the demise of several K2
audio amplifiers.
While this problem was supposed to be corrected with some resistor
changes, I would advise all to take the cons
Mike,
When you say the sub does not follow, do you mean that if both VFOs are
tuned to a signal and you then turn the VFO A knob away from the signal,
the right channel still plays the same signal without change despite
turning the tuning knob? or do you simply mean that the VFO B readout
does
I have installed the KRX3 and set it up with a separate antenna from Ant 3 at
the rear or the K3. The diversity antenna is a dipole and the main antenna
is a vertical. The meneu settings are as follows
1. ANT=BNC
2. KAYN3 has been calibrated.
3. SPKRS is set to 2 as I use headphones.

Pippo,
The KPA100 cannot cohabit the same enclosure as the KAT2 - they fit into
the same space.
To do that, you would order the KAT100-2 and an EC2 enclosure. Mount

has connectors to plug the KPA100 cables (except for th
Hi Bob.
Try rerunning the synthesizer calibration procedure as described in
the "Calibration Procedures" section of the manual (page 49 in the D5
revision).

to know if it's possible to firstly install the kat2 inside the K2 and use
it as a qrp with battery when i want and then link the external kat100 for
using the k2 as a base station with kpa100 option. in poor words the t
