Just to make sure, you are using a separate port on the Keyspan device to
communicate with the KPA, right? As a reminder to all, the KPA500 does not have
serial port pass-through capabilities. You must use separate ports to
communicate with the K3 and KPA500.

Hi,
I am about to enable remote on/off on my K3 and I just noticed in the manual
for the KPA500 that the power ON line must be pulsed to ground and not left
low. This is different than what the manual says for the K3 where you are
supposed to pull the line to ground until you wish to power off.

Yes, fuse it. I have repaired several KX1s that were damaged by
excessive current through the PC traces.
I would suggest a fuse in the range if 2 to 5 amps. 3 amps should be
the ideal target.

I changed the screws in my amp yesterday morning and ran it yesterday
afternoon and night, and have not heard any pop since. I used the
3/16" that were extras from a K3 build. I got from the hardware store
4-40 1/2" long flat heads, but the counter-sink angle was different,
so I did not use them.
The Elecraft KX3 architects should weigh in on this topic - a simplified
block diagram would be helpful. The KX3 roofing filter is likely a analogue
filter realized with precision op amps and operating at the KX3
low-frequency IF (11 KHz?) - not "baseband". The roofing filter is applied

No, the KX3 roofing filter module is completely different. It works at
"baseband" frequencies, rather than the 8+ MHz IF that the K3 uses. You will
not be able to use K3 filters in the KX3.
