The best speaker I found for my K2 in the shack is the Heathkit HS-1661 that
goes with DX-60 and many of the other Heathkit radios. Somehow, over the
years others have found it quite suitable for service other than Heathkit
radios. Nice full bodied sound and tone.

Ed your SDR-IQ will do a nice job of close in 2 tone ID testing, a
better job than my simple spectrum analyser. For IMD testing you do
not need a resistive coupler, an ordinary oscilloscope probe used with

Hi Jim,
I think it may be a fact of life with alarm systems since they have wiring
all over the house. On mine, high power would signal an alarm identified as
a fire alarm. I identified the wires in the alarm panel that went to the
smoke detector input screw terminals and added a clamp-on ferrite

I had similar issues over the years with my GFI receptacles. I put

distribution panel but was only able to reduce the problem and/or move
it to other bands. I then tried different brands of receptacles and,

That's noting unusual. Almost all amps are sold that way, with

I have to agree the Heathkit HS1661 is a great external speaker for the K2.
I have used it for over 8 years and been very pleased with the audio output

from its Heathkit case and built a separate enclosure for it to match the

For computer interfacing the KX3 for running various soundcard

Ed,
A very important consideration when measuring the IMD performance of an

intermodulation products generated by the test equipment must be low enough
so that they do not introduce measurement error. Among the usual sources

Thanks, Gary. Yes, they do great work. We always hope that boards will
