Let me build your K2 or other Elecraft kit. My prices are reasonable, and you
have a radio, with the options you want, fully built. Please respond off of
the reflector.

Good morning from Phoenix,
I am in the process of trying to decide which new transceiver go purchase,
sometime around Christmas time. I have one particular overriding
requirement in considering the various rigs. I am totally blind, and good
access to the controls, data, and menus is
I'm trying to track down a power cord for my K3.
I have zip cord but it's real stiff. I'd like to get some 'spaghetti'
wire that is zip cord type. I have plenty of spaghetti wire but it's
separate leads.
Anybody have a source? I must exist as what I'm looking for is used on

Been happening in the UK for some time ( 1 year), they tried this with my wife
last week, when I got on the line they dropped the line - however, the didn't
withhold the number!

Hi group,
i observed a strange behaviour regading the power-setting in AM mode.
When i switch to FM, transmit with 100W, switch to AM and press PTT again
the K3 produces 100W dead-key.
When i then adjust the power from 100W to 99W and back again to 100W it
delivers the expected level of 25W
Julie,
I found this posted somewhere when I had the same problem. There is an
adjustment in FLDigi itself that will make the width wider. It is not a K3
issue.
*The FLDIGI waterfall display width is controlled by the xN key, located
at the bottom of the display screen. N value can be 1 (where

What do you mean by spaghetti wire? Zip cord of any type should never
be used around transmitter sites because it is really poor at RF
rejection. Twisted pair is MUCH better -- it
The proper term which I should have used is silicone wire which is very
flexible due to the high conductor count.

You would have confused me with silicone wire too -- never heard of
it. But High conductor count and very flexible is clear enough. :)
For those who may be interested, a new Association, W4A - Alabama
(http://www.sota.org.uk/Associations/viewAssociation/prefix/W4A), has
joined SOTA.
Thanks go to Dennis Martin, WA2USA, for getting the ball rolling and
spear-heading this.
There is not yet an Association Reference Manual
Powerwerx stocks flexible 8 and 10 gauge cable with high strand counts.

They also stock 18 gauge test probe cable and call it noodle wire, which fits
with the original terminology.

I have spools of various sizes of the PowerWerx wire. Very
nice stuff, and they stock all the rest of the stuff to use it.

True, but it's not zip. I have plenty of single black and red wire. I
would like it bonded together to make for a neater installation.

If they were bonded together, they would be less flexible. Use a cable sleeve.

You can put one end in a vise, the other in a drill chuck (I use an ancient hand drill for
this) and make twisted pair out of it.

The PowerWerx red/back paired wire ---is--- together,
exactly like zip-cord and can be easily un-zipped.

True, but it's not nearly as flexible as the silicone, high conductor
count 'spaghetti' wire. I already have a roll of the powerwerx
red/black paired wire.

That isn't the same stuff. Let's compare the number of strands and the gauge of
the strands for 8 gauge wire.
Powerwerx zip cable: 133/30
Powerwerx flex cable: 616/36
Yes, the zip cable is flexible, but not as much as the other cable.

For no good reason, I have two K3s with PR6s and I seem to have an

Hello all:
I am the proud owner of a slightly used K-3 and P-3. The serial numbers
are K3=SR# 3227 and the P3=SE#853. First of all can any one tell me when these
were made and how do I find out when they were purchased? Second how well does

supplies for 12V power cords with Anderson Power Pole connectors attached.

Jerry,
I cannot answer about the P3, but the K3 was made sometime in 2009 as
best I can decipher from the serial number.
The KAT3 works very well, it will usually match an SWR of 10:1 - of
course that depends on the exact reactance at th shack end of the coax,
but the tuner itself is quite
I haven't used my K3 much since Field Day. Today I turned it on and engaged

only hear VFO A in my left ear.
Adjusting the SUB RF control affects VFO A volume. It's like the radio's sub
