Looks like I forgot to share the outcome of this story.
In the end, I got new MAX534 and replaced it, and everything
is now fine. I can't tell you whether the chip was deffective
from the beginning, or it was damaged by EMC during my
soldering. Anyway, things are OK for quite some time.

My VCO control voltage is zero on 40,30, and 15 meters. All other bands
are within the normal range, all tests prior to these measurements passed.
When I try to run CAL PLL, I get info 232 even though I am on 40 meters.
What should I check first?

Check its value - it should be 47 pF (marked 470).
A low voltage at R30 indicates that there is not sufficient capacity in

First, the menu SSBC parameter is for compression, not gain. The gain
setting is SSBA.
Yes, SSBC must be set to 1-1 (no compression) for data modes.
That is why it is advisable to activate the RTTY filter set in the K2
and copy the filter settings from your SSB filter into the RTTY filte

That is quite strange. I would examine your work carefully,
particularly looking for lifted solder pads and/or solder bridges.

Somewhere I had something shorting against the case.

Good Evening,
Propagation has been good most of the week. The sun has been
active. Spaceweather.com has some interesting facts about the week's
solar activity. Multiple active sunspots with more M and X class flares
probable. Ten meters and lower have been fun to monitor. Lots of DX.
