I just received a note from Howard K6IA in Customer Support at Elecraft.
He wanted to confirm my address so they can send me a replacement
BNC cable. I did not request one nor had I contacted Elecraft about the
issue directly.
Can anyone name any other company that would take the initiative

I am interesting in weight of KXPA100 with ATU.
I see two different number, 2.42 Kg in the manual and 7 lbs (anbout
3.2Kg) in the Elecraft web page.
Which is correct weight ?

I am also a Mac user, but agree that running Windows can create issues. I have
had go luck with VMware but only use when I really have to.
My preference is to use Mac compatible programs like Fldigi and MacloggerDX.
I've also used Rumlog and SdrDX with the KX3 successfully. They work well

And if you are nostalgic for "the old look" there are free programs to

The connector is so small with respect to a wavelength that the
impedance mismatch is of no concern, at least up through the VHF range.

Bill,
Be careful of running Windows on a MAC. I have run into some interesting
problems doing that. I was working with two MAC Minis. One would allow access
to the wireless network and the other would not. Additionally, not all sound
cards play nice in this environment. The one that comes to mi
I would have thought not, physically in terms of size yes, but electrically
not, since they are different impedance.

Don,
I'm not sure that I would recommend the change. The drop of support only has
meaning if you are planning to replace hardware or upgrade software. Yes, you
won't be getting updates, but at this point, so what? I would suggest moving
forward in steps as you need to, like buying a new compute
Does that mean they're interchangeable?

Recently connect a new KPA500 & KAT500 to my K3.
When running the utility programs, the KPA500 utility shuts down when I
select firmware tab.
The KAT500 program works fine.
Any ideas why the KPA Utility quits when the firmware tab is selected?
Tnx,

Comment on window 8 ..
1) 8 and 7 are 98% the same os the only major diff is in 8 they added
the new launcher
2) they made the launch page default
3) the took away the homescreen start button
in 8.1 they made it a option to use the launcher or go back to how
windows was.
so take the time up
Batch #5 (which arrived about a month ago) is just about sold out. Sales of
these limited production filters have been fairly slow since mid-summer, but
we expect they'll pick up as the holidays approach.
Once this batch sells out there will be at least a 15-week lead-time (12

These days the BNC center pin size is the same for 50 and 75 ohms.
The quote below is from 2004 so this change took place a long time ago.

Hi George, Charlie
Thanks George as your comment about BNC center pins was a new learning.
Since I was using cables from Elecraft, that would have never crossed my
mind.
I did change cables and all appears to be back to normal for now. I checked
the center pin to pin on the cable I removed and it
When comparing similar size cables or connectors, the one with the smaller
inner diameter will be the highest impedance.

Bill,
Another issue with BNC connectors to take into account is that 50 ohm & 75

center pin. The larger one (don't remember which one) can expand the female

In addition to all the PC suggestions, FLDIGI and cocoaModem

It is also possible to run Windows directly on Mac hardware.
