I think I should have NOT mentioned the 50:50 sale agreement out club had
with a recent widow, but I thought it had bearing on the method of
disposing a deceased hams equipment. I listed it as one of the options so
the ham in question could recommend to his heirs the ways to dispose of his
equipment.

The facts are that hams widow wanted the club to have ALL the proceeds from
the sale. She just wanted the stuff out of the house. The person in
charge talked her into accepting 50% and the club did subtract the shipping
costs from the club's profit. Have you ever shipped an Alpha amp across
the company..... our group had UPS do it and they did the packing too, thus
having a guarantee and insurance on the amp. In the past our club had a
few men who took on small estate sales for nothing and one of my friends
used to charge 15%. He felt that covered hauling it to many swaps across
Michigan until the goods were finally sold. We are not selfish or mean
spirited in situations like this. These were the facts as told to me.
The most recent ones in my memory were donations to the club of a single
rig and that was the wish of the decedent himself. We are still using
those rigs in our club station and field day.
