Elecraft sells ham radios. If you have a MARS license Elecraft will provide you
will instructions to enable that on your K3 or KX3. There have been no reports
from someone with a legitimate MARS license being denied that support from
elecraft. All it takes is an email or call to tech support.
I keep getting this from the k3util and p3 util on Linux Mint 17:
17:58:33 Connecting to ftp.elecraft.com. Please be patient, this takes a few
seconds.
17:58:33 Unable to connect to Elecraft server. Error: 127
I can connect to ftp.elecraft.com from other programs and download the
firmware, but
Problem solved. Error: 127 indicates you don’t have curl installed (thanks to
W8FGU).
Just needed: sudo apt-get install curl
A more informative error message would have saved a lot of head scratching.

The PPC driver is only for Power PC Macs. You want either the x86 (32-bit) or
x64 (64-bit) drivers if you have an Intel processor. Look in system
information to see what processor you have in the Mac mini.

Debian and Ubuntu changed the way they handle multi arch systems in their
latest releases. Part of the change was to eliminate ia32-libs. Adding it from
the repository of another release is not recommended. The right way to do it
is:
$ sudo dpkg —add-architecture i386
$ sudo apt-get update
.

If you have 64-bit linux mint, you need the 32-bit version of the libraries
since the K3 utility is built for 32-bit linux. Search the mailing list

This is in fact a deficiency in Debian. Most of the required libs can be
installed in a multi-arch configuration where the 32-bit libraries go into a
separate directory from the 64-bit libraries. However the gtkhtml package
among others does not yet conform to this standard. The 32-bit

I’m not sure exactly how on Ubuntu, but for 64-bit debian you would need a
sequence of commands like this:
#dpkg —add-architecture i386
#apt-get update
