Moving Elecraft to a lower-cost location is probably not feasible due to the
disruption and cost of relocating the business and families. Additionally, the
challenge and cost of finding another location can alone be significant.
However, it is a business decision, so the costs vs benefits
Julie,
The problem may be in your LDG tuner and not the KX3. I am not familiar
with that tuner, but I had a similar problem with my KAT500 automatic
tuner, where it would not tune on a band even though the antenna was perfectly
good. (It happened to me 20m, and was somehow locked up and
I am assembling my KPA500, and am to the point of installing the RF Power
Amplifier/Low Pass Filter (PA/LPF) Module. I notice when handling the
module, if I gently rock it back and forth, I hear a small clicking sound from
somewhere in the module..
I have inspected the module, and do
K8DSS and I went and saw the movie, Paranoia. Harrison Ford played the

I am passing along the following for the benefit of anyone who would like
to control their K3's DVK messages from WinTest.
Ever since I got my K3 over a year ago, I have wished for a way to trigger
the DVK messages from WinTest. I mentioned this to Bob, WA1Z, and he told
me about setting
What is the cure for an ERR BP2 in a K3? The manual says to de-install
KBPF3 on the RF board. This sounds serious and complicated.
Is this an error msg that must be fixed, or can it wait until our crew
returns from a dxpedition?

My K3's voice keyer works great. I use the K3 with a CM500 boom
mic/headset. When transmitting a recorded voice message, any slight touch,
bump, or
noise on the mic will stop the message. Is there a way to prevent a noise
or bump to the mic from stopping the message (other than not
I too would like to have a better way to adjust the NR settings. When
searching for a good NR setting in live band conditions that cry out for some

I really don't know what to suggest, but if the settings adjustment

Phil,
I don't think that putting a P3 on top of a K3 is a good idea for a couple
of reasons.
First of all, the P3 is more than half the width of a K3, so having it on
top will block the speaker and the K3's vent slots.
Secondly, I don't think it will be convenient to watch. Your eyes
Here's something I 'invented' yesterday. I'd like to think it's an
original idea but I cannot imagine it hasn't been done time and again by
others. But since I've never seen it written anywhere let me describe
it here. It might help someone.

I am getting ERR BP2 on my K3. What is the best way to troubleshoot this
problem? I have been getting this error since the suitcase in which the K3
was packed was dropped. Otherwise the radio is aok.

As I am transmitting, I am getting an occasional quick flashing of a low
battery message on my K3's display.
Please let me know what is causing this.

At times, my microHam CW Keyer is connected to my K3 via the P3. However,
when I want to download new firmware for the K3, I have to disconnect the
CW Keyer from the RS232 port, and connect the DB9 from the computer's serial
port to the K3 via the P3.
Can I use a DB9 A/B switch to switch
