I built the three radios in the order listed. KX-1 goes together quickly, but
is a little more challeging in a couple of tight spots than the K1. The K2 just
requires more time. As you well know, nothing is difficult, you just have to
put in the time.

I've been kicking around several designs to mount a KXPD1 paddle to the right
side panel of a K1, and later, a K2.
Before I get too sporting, are you thinking of some sort of mount that would
allow the paddle to be affixed to your other rigs?

Just getting K2 4329 aligned and on the air.
All alignments are complete (thanks to spectrogram and Tom Hammond), but I have
found that activating the spot tone feature distorts the incoming rx signal.
This is very evident both auditory and when viewing the signal on Spectrogram.

For reference, Hisashi was correct. It was a broken RFC15. Distortion on
transmit confirmed the problem.

What? You mean you don't place the Fingerdimple on the geometric center of the
knob?
I vote for the standard K2 knob with Fingerdimple (mounted off center of
course). It has a nice feel to it, better than the FT100 knob in my opinion,
which has a dimple, but the radius is too small to get good
Amazing, isn't it? In fact, I am thinking of installing five Fingerdimples-
four around the circumference, and one in the middle. I'd always have one at
the ready, without having to move my finger more than a fraction. this would
result in true efficiency of operation.

My guess is that people hike so they can operate their Elecraft Radios, not
necessarily the other way around. The radio changes their attitude so they plan
trips based on being able to set up their stations.
