40 inches of power cable. In my experiences, that could be an issue
depending on the gauge of the wire. I used a long cable 12 gauge and had
issues. Went to 24 inches number 10 gauge and voltage drop significantly

This is an issue that I have also, but have chosen to ignore. I have the
samlex, astron ss30 and a rm30. The Quiet one is the rm 30. You might
try to tighten the bolts on the transformer. That helped mine, but no fan.

So, K4 and the internal Linux system. What is it doing for the radio,
processor type, clock speed ram, any ssd, and version. I am assuming or
guessing it is a PI of some sort or tigally designed by Elecraft?

Ok, I told myself yesterday when the K4 leaked in a deluge of emails, that
I was not going to get excited. After all, I am a K3 owner serial 443.
This radio has been far beyond...great. i can crank out cw QSOs with the
very basic K3. The Elecraft experience has been superb and superlative. I

Look at the two diodes in the SWR/watt meter circuit. These two diode are
critical to the operation of the K3. These are the foundation of the K3s

When I was in College at Kansas State, I had a random length long wire out
the window and up into some trees from the basement apartment. I used a
simple coil and cap with alligator clips to make a LCD tuner on a piece of

No, I would not think that a chrome book would work. I would suggest that
you look on Craigs List for a laptop. My buddy just got a deal on an I7
with 7Pro for 100 dollars. There are very inexpensive computer systems out
there. Caveate Emptorbuyer beware.

Operated RTTY NAQP this weekend. When changing bands, I noticed my power
would drop to 40 watts or so. After several transmissions, it would rise
to 100 watts. I don't think this is normal. All antennas are matched.

Old topic from a Old Newbie. I have been fooling around with PSK 31 and I
have it set up and working but I do have a question. Do most ops using
this mode turn off the AGC and then ride the RF gain control because of the
stronger signals in the band pass killing off the weaker
