Time to add some extra kick to my K2-10; but, of course, problems arise along
the way:
I find that U1 pin 2 to ground is only 5 kohms rather than > 10K. I can find
no solder bridges or misplaced components.
Resistors R24 and RP1 show the correct values. Should I suspect that Q10 is

Roger/Don/John:
Thanks for quick replies (before I ripped out U8). Menu -- STL -- Display did
the trick. I got into this problem trying to reset the RTC clock, which calls
for tapping Display twice, which I probably did while in STLevel.
Thanks again.

Don:
After much backing and resoldering, I finally got my K2 on the air. (The
problems were popped then mismatched finals.) Unfortunately, the side tone has
stopped working, either in setting the tone or level from the menu,
transmitting or in the test mode. I can get power out on key down, ju
I have tracked down some of my problems with the K2 transmitter, namely R49
that was not soldered. Now I'm faced with the problem of very low output rf
power. I see unbalanced rf voltages at the bases of Q7 and Q8; I.e 0.20 v
(rms) at the base of Q7 and 6.6 v (rms) at the base of Q8. I have

Your email prompted me to make these measurements and clarify my statement
about the voltage at D6 and D7:
The anode voltage at D7 is a zero with key up; however it does not go to 8 v on
key down. The anode at D6 is 7.9 volts with key up (receive) but only drops to
about 0.6 v on key do
Don:
Thanks for the quick reply. Indeed the voltage at pin 5 of U6 is as expected
(2.31 for 11.9 v in).
To be sure: the firmware chip is U6, on the control board?? I'll replace that
and see what happens.
If I may continue with my litany of problems since they may well arise from

Hope to find I'm on the list. I've completed my K2 and have some problems with
the transmitter section. However, before I attack them, I've suddenly
encountered a problem with the voltage display showing 23.3 v even with 0 volts
into the internal voltmeter. The voltage into U6 at it's voltage
I have some problems with my K2 transmitter section, but first would like to
clear up a problem with the voltage display. After giving the correct value
for several days, it suddenly began to read 23.3 volts no matter the input
voltage. This persists even after resetting both the relays and th
