I've run into a minor glitch in the assembly of K3 #379. I made it
up to the point of doing the 5W Transmitter Gain calibration without
a problem. That went fine on every band but 60M, there I get no more
than 0.4W and a ERR TxG message when I exit Tune. The installation
of the 100W amp and

At 4:53 EST today the much anticipated Big Brown Truck pulled up in
front of the WA3KYY QTH and dropped off K3 #379. This was a 100W kit
with the KAT3, KXV3, 500Hz and 1.8KHz filters along with the stock
2.7Khz filter. All was present except the 1.8KHz filter which is on
backorder.
What a pleasant finish to SS this year. My very last QSO was with
Tom, N0SS. I heard him finish a QSO about 2 minutes before the
end. He didn't send QRZ but I dropped my call out anyway. He came
back and I got him in the log at 23:59:39, he QSL's my report with
less than 10 secs to go.
I don't know how reduced it is because I haven't compared it to the
KPA100 as the top lid but it is barely noticeable in my K2 with the
KPA100 in an EC2 unless I have the preamp on. Even then, it is more
a nuisance than a problem unless the signal is very weak.

Out here in Maryland 10 was in pretty good shape the whole
weekend. During daylight it was open to somewhere both Sat Sun. I
must have worked everyone in both AZ and MN. Never did hear anyone

Several comments:
This is not an FCC proposal but a Report Order, the changes spelled
out are the new regulations 30 days after publication in the Federal

Just a heads up: 14.290 and 21.360 are the OMISS Net
frequencies. The 20M net starts at 1830Z Mon-Sat and the 15M net
starts at 1700Z Sat-Sun. The Net control usually starts taking a
check in list about 30min before the scheduled net start time.

To the original poster who could not even receive.
The RigBlaster is not used during receive. The audio goes straight
from the K2 (I use the ext speaker jack) to the Line IN jack on your
sound card. Until you can properly receive PSK, SSTV, RTTY, etc,
there is no point in connecting up the
The latter will be my approach for SO2R contesting eventually. Given
the features already leaked, it is clear this amp is aimed at the

There is one additional component that Don forgot and that is the
replacement of one of the miniature RFC chokes on the KIO2 with a

KIO2 to use a toroid at that location to prevent problems with people

After a recent portable operation with my K2 and KPA100/KAT100 in an EC2 I
returned to find that the K2 would no longer control the amp and tuner. A
