Thanks to Sam K5OIA pointing me to Wikipedia re MISO (master input slave
output) I was able to rebut
jokes from immediate family members re Japanese soup.
After removing all modules except the front panel, carefully applying 'De-Oxit'
to all non-gold plated pins,
re-assembly restored K3 #321
Early model (#321) displays ERR I01, indicating MISO line stuck low (asserted).
I can't find any reference to 'MISO line' in the manual. Any help would be
much appreciated.

Hi All,
Two K3s in the ZM1A shack, #320 and #321 - both have the Revision B March 15
2009 modification.
Recently, #321 has refused to turn off - no problem with #320.
Checked the 1N4148 diode, tests OK but replaced it anyway. #321 still refuses
to turn off.
Has anyone else experienced this

Has anyone on the list experienced problems with Win7 when attempting a K3
firmware upgrade?
My friend Aki ZL1GO has attempted the upgrade using his new Win7 computer
without success - no
problems with his old XP machine.
I have only XP, so I can't help him.

While checking a K3/100 #4114 on behalf of SK estate, I find that the power
cannot be set higher than 12 watts.
Operation was normal until I commenced a CAL procedure to correct a 2kHz
difference between 'indicated' and transmitted frequency.
Checked all the menu functions but can't find any
of ideas.G

This is a bit more invasive, but a few earlier KPA100 modules had a problem
with the interface connector

Hi all,
When K3 #321 is switched off, it automatically switches on again.
No error message, and all other functions seem normal.
Of course it stays off when the power supply is removed.
Alongside it, K3 #320 (both share the same 13.5v supply) operates as normal...

At ZM1A (multi-two) during the ARRL DX CW contest we received some reports of
choppy CW when CT was keying via the 'Key' socket.
Monitoring the signal with a K2 (dummy load in antenna socket) confirmed the
reports. CW sent using the paddle was normal.
Both 'station one' K3 and 'station two' K3

Hi Curt,
Your signal was the strongest I heard during my 1.5 hours in the 'warm up' -
paddle-sent CW was fine, but computer CQ sounded like it needed more weight.
I wonder which logging program you were using?

K3 #320 (plus #321 at ZM1A)
At ZM1A (Multi-single/Multi-Two) contest station we had serious key-up
wide-band noise problems with several different YaeComWood models - least
obnoxious was the IC-780 plus Drake L4B, two sets of antennas separated about
100m, especially with both quads pointed at each other.

The K3 will handle the open-frame relays in SB-220-type amps but open-frame
relays will not close reliably within 20ms.
Some contest logging programs (CTWin for example) enable up to 250ms delay
which is fine for most old amps, but don't attempt to use your paddle via the
K3 internal keyer.

Hi Stewart,
Something wrong there - we have two K3s that run 48+ hours in serious CW
contesting - minimal temperature rise for both rigs.
