According to the builtin volt meter on my K2, my old Astron RS-20A is putting
out 13.3V (which I understand to be really more like 13.5-13.6 because of
voltage drop across the diode). A couple questions regarding that and the KBT2:
1. Is that adequate voltage for charging the KBT2? The
on
equipment to solder parts to boards.

For experimenters, it makes much more sense to stick with the larger
smt sizes and solder them in by hand with a soldering iron and
hand-held solder
Somebody on here (I think) posted about using a toaster oven
to melt solder on a SMD PC board... How long and how hot? I imagine
it must be 450+ (farenheit) Thanks!

Fortunately, cooler heads than Mike S are in charge here.
I hope.
I find the concept of a toroid-winding machine intriguing, and now it's got me
wondering just how it works.

Shouldn't be too hard to even have it use a PC as a display, much like the
sound card analyzers and PC-based oscilloscopes do, and that should help keep
costs down.
Count me in!

Mouser's part number: 561-M2683
Heyco's part number: 2683
Probably the same part. :-)

You can also check electronic part distributors
I have one of these, bought from Circuit Specialists a year ago for $35. They
no longer carry this exact model, it's been replaced by this:

The one I have does a very nice job...I've finished the control board, front
panel board, and KSB2
