A re-calibration is required on the transmitter for one of the firmware
releases.

Wayne,
Your comment about VK prompted me to write... while on vacation last week I
was sitting on a balcony overlooking the James River in Virginia operating
a KX2 on 40m with 5 watts of power using JT65 into a magloop. After working
a few stations I opened up PSK Reporter to see that VK stations

Mike,
Do you have a mic plugged in? If not the KX2 is in internal mic mode.
Also, make sure you are not in data mode... the KX2 won't let you change some
of those settings in data mode.

Sounds like the batteries are possibly suspect.
A KX3 will give out 10W down to 10V according to the firmware release
(v2.38), and although I haven't personally run my batteries down that low I
haven't seen any behavior to indicate otherwise (in other words I'm getting
10W out, not 3 or 4W as you
Luke,
I've found that if I have an audio cable plugged in and connected to a
computer, the KX2 thinks there's a mic load and will let you change those
settings... provided you are in SSB.
If in DATA mode it will tell you N/A I seem to recall. So just change modes
to SSB, change the MIC settings
I found a good pair of side-cutters with a quick filing and I can't tell
the difference between the two screws under a magnifying glass, just stay
clear of the threads so you don't damage them. (wear your safety glasses
:-) )
I took the screw out of the keyer to avoid damaging it while
; be different and depend on the operating aspirations.

Anyone happen to know power consumption of the KX3 when running at the
relatively new 15W RF output setting?
I had read a while back that it was around ~2.1A at 10W. Looking at tiny
power supply options and don't want to underrate.

John,
Just like Bruce said regarding the 1899...
I started at one tap position for 20M and then changed the coil tap to
another for 40M. When I wrote my original note that was my 40M testing... I
failed to mention in my earlier email. In this case the whip length itself
isn't adjusted, just the
Wayne,
Funny you should bring this up, I just received an MFJ-1899T today. Slapped
a counterpoise on it and at 6 watts running JT9 (in New Jersey) was able to
be heard (watching PSK Reporter) all the way in CA and Alberta. Just
worked a station in MN.
I'm not even giving the whip a fair
Don,
Wasn't the KIO3B code added at firmware level 5.x?
If so, not sure the K3 knows anything about the USB setting unless it is
polling those settings directly from the board itself.

Out on youtube if you search for "P3 TXMON" you'll find a couple of short
(1 min video) of an operator showing a SSB and CW envelope on a P3 with the
TXMON option installed.

Ian,
Which rev level of WSJT-X are you trying to use?
I seem to recall 1.5.x had some issues with Hamlib and as a result some of
the PTT code was broke.
If you are running 1.6.0 I think the Hamlib stuff is fixed and you can use
K3/KX3 as a rig and then set PTT to CAT.
If you plan on running DX
