Wait, shouldn’t the sensor be before the antenna tuner? I don’t think a sensor
should be connected where it’s not 50 ohms.

By the way, Jim, in case you were wondering, you sounded absolutely superb here
in KY. And you were not one of the offending Big Guns. I mean, yes, you’re a
Big Gun but no, I didn’t have you in mind during my rant. You know what I mean.

That’s nice to know. A long time ago I measured the input impedance of a Yaesu
transceiver with a network analyzer. I looked for but couldn’t find my measured
data but I remember it varied from band to band between 25 and 100 ohms, so
within 2:1 VSWR.

Wait, it’s been determined that the K4 definitely has a pin one problem?

That is key. In a little while FT8 will fall out of favor as amateurs move on
to the next digital mode, a cycle that has repeated for the entire history of
digital modes.
An FT8 specific radio wouldn’t interest, but an “infinitely flexible” digital
mode platform with integral computer might.
One man’s serendipity is another man’s looking at the available antenna tuner
topologies and choosing one with a very useful secondary function.

Ian, now that I think of it, wasn’t the first ARRL KSYN3A review in error and
then an updated review came out, or something like that? Does anybody remember?
I wonder if Ian and I are looking at two different reviews of the same product.

Thanks, Dave. I used that extra word “full” for no reason. Thanks for
confirming that it does diversity. I had heard that the VFOs weren’t actually
phase-locked. Glad to hear they are.

I must hold the record for threads hijacked by the group.
I just wanted to report what I thought might be a bug, not re-think the whole
clock thing. I like the clock the way it is.

Interesting. Would a straight monochrome spectrum take care of all of this?
