The KX3 DSP has a special effects (AFX) mode by which higher tones go to one
ear while lower tones go to the other. The K3 does not.
Is there a reason why the K3 can not have this choice? If it can be done, will
it?

FWIW ... W5YA 3AB (QRP) was an all Elecraft K3 entry on field day this year.
The performance broke the previous category record set by another all Elecraft
team, K7EAR, in 2005. The K3's performed flawlessly.

Quick question:

For my pair-of-K2's in SO2R, I have routed the audio in such a way that I have
a balance control with the audio from the two radios. I call it a mixing
control. I find that optimum is achieved when the full strength audio is in
one ear, and that same audio is
The problem was k3 instead of K3 however, that error came from clicking on

From Elecraft main page I went to the K3 page.
From there I clicked on firmware and software upgrades.
From there I clicked on beta release and instruction.
From there beta release download.

Can not download it ???
If I click on the link, I am taken to a loaction that shows the 2.63 zip file.
If I click on the zip file, I am taken to an empty index labeled;

The actual address of the link is given as:
Since updating to FW 2.38, Hamradio deluxe is no longer able to connect with
the K3. It says can't read K3 frequency OR the K3 is in Memory Mode,
whatever that means. The Elecraft Utility sees the K3 just fine.
Has anyone encountered this and resolved it?
tnx,
Fred

Thank you. Indeed, the radio and HRD WERE on 4,800 baud rate. With the FW
upgrade, the K3 switched to 38,400 without my notice, and HRD had to be told to
make that change. Now, copasetic.

GREAT SCOTT !!!
the new version of the narrow filter; at the noise floor the filter is half the

Put the K3 on spectrogram today. As expected the CW filters are delightfully

Now, the SSB filters. This was with 2.7 five pole filter. DSP set at 2.7 khz,
the filter is for all intents, PERFECT. Steep sides, very steep, and
absolutely level and flat top from one side to the other.
The dual passband on spectrogram was most informative. It turns out my ear had
little idea what was going on.
I have the 2.7 khz and the 500 khz (but the radio is set to 600 khz). I think
this function will act differently with different filters on board.

Some headfones have MUCH more gain with the K2 than others. the Kenwood HS-5
is a low impedance phone. I put it on the speaker jack. with that, I have to
turn the AF gain down to almost 8 o'clock and the RF gain down to about 10

the K2 does not have two rcvrs for split operation. therefore, when working a
