All,
This was an operator error - the delay between T/R relay closure in the
amp and the start of RF was too short. Setting the delay up from 8 to 20
msec solved the problem.
Thanks to all who offered advice.

All,
I am trying to bring a Drake L-4B to life. I have done the power supply
rebuild, the soft-start and other mods. I have also directly grounded
the grids of the 3-500Zs (Eimac brand). In driving it with my K3 (SN
51XX, software up to date) I find that the RF power stair-steps to the

I have seen a problem when using the K3 in SSB. While trying to work a
DX station on 10M, waiting for the next chance to call, something causes
the K3 to stop transmitting on SSB. The PTT still works as normal and
keys the K3 and the power amplifier. If I change to CW, it transmits as
usual. I
Recently I have implemented a downconverter to convert the K2 IF to
baseband so that the spectrum can be displayed on a PC using a SDR
software package such as "NaP3". To route the IF out of the K2, I used a
Z1B buffer amplifier kit from Clifton Labs, and for the
downconverter I used a spec
I have an older K2/100, but it has all the mods that I know of and it
has served me well for about the past six months that I have owned it.
Recently, I noticed on the station monitor scope that there is a
"ragged" appearance to the waveform, on one side only, as I send CW at
100 watts, and as

I have a KDSP2 unit for sale. I built this unit last year when I built K2 SN

convenient for me, as I am a CW-only operator. Included are the manual, a

I would relate my experience. Several years ago, I built a homebrew HF CW

I have received a suggestion from Don Wilhelm to install an RFC from the Rx
port to ground, and this solved the problem.
Many thanks to Don for his advice and prompt response.

I have a problem trying to key a "homebrew" amplifier with my K2 (S/N 5251).
I am using the two-transistor T/R circuit from the "Mods" web page, and the
T/R relay pulls in as expected, however there is an annoying "thump" in the
received audio when the T/R returns to the receive state. I am using t
