When I got my K3, one of the first produced, I made a couple of RTTY and
PSK contacts with the CW-to-digital feature, virtually my first non-CW
QSOs since the 1980s. I think they wondered why I sent them 5NN reports,
though.

Hi Tony,
I had the function in mind, then cajoled Lyle into doing the hard part -- the
demodulator. Somehow he figured it out in just a few days.

Re: CW-To-Data Feature
I'm glad you thought of it! It must have taken a while to get from
concept to production. I would imagine that it's not that simple to add
other data modes -- the foundation is there but my guess is that it
would require more code crunching?
Thanks for all.

Me, too. A roll of paper weighed more than a KX3.

A friend from work many years ago introduced me to his wife at a social
gathering. When he mentioned that I was also a ham, her tone and demeanor
suddenly changed, as she glared at me and asked “are you the one who gave
him those teletype machines in the garage?”
I was very glad that I was innocen

While I was moving from a house in Chicago I'd lived in for 20 years,
one of those machines sat in the alley for a couple of weeks!

Hi Tony,
I, too, am an avid user of the CW-to-PSK31 feature, which is available on the
K3 and K4 as well as the KX line. I've even used it during Field Day, which is
a hoot, especially with a tiny KX2 and its paddle being all the gear you need
(no computer or keyboard required). All of these ri
