[Elecraft] [K3] Power supply rating

I need to take my K3 to class. I'll need just enough oomph to talk to the serial port. What would be the minimum rating for a PS? Any suggestions for a small packable one? Would a couple of layers of bubble wrap be sufficient for packing the rig in checked buggage? 73, Mike NF4L __

Looks like a Radio Shack 22-507 PS will meet my needs @ 3A. Unless someone has a better/cheaper solution. I have 4 20 amp (or better supplies), and don't need another of those . . 73, Mike NF4L On 12/28/2011 8:09 AM, Mike wrote: > I need to take my K3 to class. I'll need just enough oomph to

Take a look at the TDK Lambda switch mode power supplies. The LS50-15 that I have is pretty quiet, with output voltage adjustable from 13.5v to 16.5v, about $20 from Newark Electronics. The LS35-12 is a bit cheaper if you really only need 12 volts. http://www.newark.com/tdk-lambda/ls5015/power-supp
