I highly doubt that it is a display issue, as I have done a master reset and
the display gives me an Info 201 that is clearly readable. Unfortunatly, after
the reset and power cycling the radio it gives me the dread "ELE". :(

Then order a new optical encoder, and look carefully for what has been
jarred loose. I suggest that you will likely find the display problem
associated with the front panel. Examine it closely for anything
I think the important thing here is what kind of terriers were they?
Kerry Blues? Schnauzers? Jack Russell?? Makes a difference here :)
