I am a contester but do all sorts of operating. I have two K3's,
initially I only had the 2nd receiver in the unit that I designated the
main radio. This radio also has lots of filters etc. I took the main
K3 to my Montana home for the summer and ended up using the other K3
without the 2nd receiver and found I missed having that capability so
much that I purchased the 2nd receiver for that radio too. It just
allow one much more flexibility whether that is diversity receive or
listening to different bands at the same time etc.
