I know the thread was originally on the KX3 but wanted to send out info on a mic that will attach to any headset and works great on my K3. I used for years the Heil HC4 DXer Dream element for chasing DX and wanted something just as good. I had been using a Bose QC15 noise cancelling headset and really enjoy it but kept looking for a way to attach a mic. Look at this site http://www.modmic.com/ It can be removed if needed and it has real punch once the equalizer is set up. I really cuts through the pileups and got the cord from my old desk mic off the table. I now keep the headset and mic plugged into the rear all the time. I use an external speaker that has an off switch that puts the speaker line to 4 ohms when in the off position.
