[Elecraft] K2 - Fixed AF Output PCB mod

2013-02-27 Thread David G4DMP
Just a word or caution to anyone fitting the Fixed AF Output mod to the K2. If you have a K2 with a Rev A board, it will be necessary to carry out the AF Gain control wiring modification. Otherwise you will find that adjusting the AF Gain control does in fact vary the 'fixed' audio output. This

I also received a built K2 recently. Love the radio accept the speaker audio is very raspy and distorted even at low volumes. I'll check my speaker as well. I know that the ATU became unplugged when it was shipping. That would have to be a pretty hard hit for that to happen. 73's Demian (KA2ZEY)

[Elecraft] K2 Fixed af output after Volume control mod

Hi Folks, I want to install the fixed af output to my K2 as described many times . I am planning on doing the volume control circuit mod (Elecraft K2 Mk 2 mod) at the same time. Does the fixed af output mod still work with the modified volume circuit ? Thanks ! 73 , Vic GW4JUN

Vic, There is no connection or dependency between the two. So install either or both at any time. 73, Don W3FPR VicWinton wrote: Hi Folks, I want to install the fixed af output to my K2 as described many times . I am planning on doing the volume control circuit mod (Elecraft K2 Mk 2

[Elecraft] K2 NO AF output

My K2 has no AF output, not even hiss. I suspected mute circuit but voltages on Q6 Q7 Source 4.8v, gate 1.1v and drain 4.8v, though low for gate may be within tolerance. There is 0v on all three of vols 1,2 3 at pins 1,2 3 of P1. Where should this voltage come from? The only visible

Robert, You are not likely to find any measurable voltage on VOL1, VOL2 or VOL3. This will be a low level audio signal, so unless you have a sensitive oscilloscope, you are likely to see zero or quite close to that (note that the DC voltage table says .02 volts, but with an * on it). Any DC
