Well, it's been a busy week for me at work, since I have next week off and I was trying to finish everything up. So I've fallen behind in being an avid Elecraft watcher.
This morning, I note that the SHIPPING STATUS section was updated on November 12 and has a new look. Of note: 1. No longer any mention of "production runs." In fact "run #2" seems to have disappeared completely. Still references/promises being made with respect to Order Dates of April 27 to May 1. 2. The page cites, "The initial rush of orders was greatest 4/27-5/2. After that group is shipped our movement through the backlog calendar will pick up considerably. We're also adding staff (and overtime) in production and test and hope to beat the above plan. We'll update it here early each week." The last sentence of the above quote caught my eye, specifically two items. First, just what does the word "it" refer to? I'm hoping that means shipping status. Second, is the word "early." Checking the dictionary, one finds that the first listed definition of "early" to be, "Of or occurring near the beginning of a given series, period of time, or course of events." Okay, let's parse this. "Near the BEGINNING of a given series....." For me, the key word here is BEGINNING. How are time frames divided up if one of those segments is defined as BEGINNING? For me, the simplest divisions are: beginning, middle, end. Since the week is 7 days long and for most of us in the States, the first day of the week is Sunday, each segment is 7/3 or 2.333 days. Being a generous sort, let's round up to 3 days. So based on what is cited on the Elecraft page, we should expect a weekly update no later than 23:59 local W6 time every Tuesday. That would be the same as Wednesday by 07:59 GMT, if my conversion math is correct (no guarantee). I'm looking forward the updates! Of course, another point of view might be: The "end" of the week is Saturday. Therefore, anything which is not "the end" must be the "beginning." Uh oh! That damn null hypothesis raises its ugly head again!
