First of all let me say thanks to all those who've contacted me with
suggestions and words of encouragement.
Spoke with Dale at Elecraft (nice guy). Apparently #2737 suffered the
dreaded switching matrix failure and needs to be sent back for repair. I say
"dreaded" simply because it affects me an
Well, I've reloaded all firmware about 6 times and even did a force firmware
load, but no fix. Connected the K3 to HRD and the available HRD controls
function with the K3. Consequently, I think this is a hardware failure of

Harry,
Do you have a recent K3 configuration saved somewhere? If not, try to
save the configuration using K3 Utility.

days ago and the radio worked just fine. Even this morning it was okay. I took
a 3 hour break and when I returned the buttons didn't function or function
correctly. I've downloaded and installed all firmware 4 times.
Sounds like you got scrambled firmware. Redownload the firmware. Then
follow the instructions on page 45 of the newest K3 User's Manual, in

Upgraded to latest firmware the other day. All seemed to be fine. A few
minutes ago I noticed the macros that I programmed into the K3 were not

You can send cat commands to simulate a "press" of an encoder. See page 17
of the programming manual (SWT SWH) commands.
For Shift/Lo it is SWT58 or SWH58
For WIDTH/HI it is SWT59 SWH59

Good afternoon.
I run my K3 on and off with TRX Manager. This is great software and works very
well.
Last week whilst working on 80m (500W) I had some RF feedback which locked up
the PC.
Quick re-start and all was working again with TRX Manager.
Then I noticed that the frontpanel of the K3 did no
