[Elecraft] K3 and wireless intruder alarm

2013-07-13 Thread David Andrews
I'm thinking of installing a wireless home security system running on 868 MHz (FM). I run up to 100 watts through the built-in ATU, into an Elecraft balun, open wire feeder and 88ft dipole at 30ft. Has anyone any experience they can share please? Am I likely to trigger the alarm? Thanks Dav

Both I and K0CF have wireless home security systems that I think run on 900 MHz or so. We both run in excess of 500 watts to K4KIO hexagonal beams at 35 to 40 feet. Our towers are bracket to the house. Neither of us have experienced any problems. David K0LUM On Jul 13, 2013, at 12:25 PM, Da

Don't know what his system will be like, but the system I have as absolutely no wiring between any of the components. Everything is wireless. Experience of two of us has been no problems while running high power levels using good equipment into well designed antennas. These data points only i

David, I suspect that you'll probably be OK going wireless, especially running only 100 watts. Our security system is about 22 years old and is a WIRED system, meaning a lot of wires (antennas!) running through the walls of our two story home. With my K3 running barefoot at 100 watts, I experie

I have Protection 1 and noticed an increase in noise level once the system was installed especially on 6m. I moved my antenna from above the house to my tower that is away from the house and the noise reduced significantly. Other bands did not seem as affected. The antenna was above my house and

I've used a wireless home alarm system for 13 years with hf/vhf/uhf antennas in the attic of a 3 story townhouse. The documentation doesn't include specs. The antenna on the master unit is approximately 13 cm. Depending on whether that's a quarter wave or full wave, it's in the bottom or top

My alarm system uses a combination of wires, for the doors, and wireless for all windows and motion detectors. I usually run the K3 with the KPA500 at around 450-500 watts and have no problems whatsoever! 73 de Jim - KE8G David Christ wrote: > Both I and K0CF have wireless home securit
