Bill,
Only if you ask that it be required.
With the good tracking tools available with UPS, I really don't
understand why anyone would want to require a signature on delivery -
especially for delivery to a residence since there is always a chance
that no one would be home when the UPS man
My wife just contacted UPS and they stated that no signature
would be required. I guess if you lived in an apartment or something,
the wouldn't leave the package without signature.

Doesn't that mean 2-3k $ worth left unguarded on your doorstep?

I learned my lesson with this. I sold a TS-2000 and had it shipped and
insured via UPS. UPS delivers it and the guy isn't there so they leave
it on the front porch. His house just so happens to be adjacent to a
city bus stop! He gets home to find that the package is no longer on
his front

Here in the outback of Montana UPS routinely leaves
packages on doorsteps ... or opens the door and sets
it inside.

Jim,
Funny that you mention that - we have a 1/4 mile driveway, and some
vendors that DHL uses do a good job, but others will just leave a parcel
most anywhere from the mailbox at the end of the driveway to the house!

I'm lucky in that we own the hardware store in our small (4K) town and the
UPS guy will leave an expensive package there if I'm not home. The XYL runs
the store and is usually there when he delivers. I'm in sales and office at
home so I may be there or halfway across the state. That said I am

When I called UPS they actually told me that a signature would be
required and thankfully my wife offered to work from home and sign for
it being that I had to be in the office that day... Working on
schematic entry from home is a pain!
