with the Heil HC4/5 mic's will be no problem.

Barry,
I believe the K3 comes permanently wired for the Elecraft microphones,
and that means there is a resistor between 5 volts and pin 1 (AF). If
one wants to use a microphone that would object to having that voltage
present on pin 1, a series DC blocking capacitor should be used.

I thought the 5V went to pin 6. AF is pin 1.
But I'm confident Elecraft have thought of this...
