Don - On the K3 you can enable and disable the mic bias to pin 1 from the menu, so it will work both with our microphones and any other dynamic mic. Also we have added more microphone input gain (adjustable) so operation with the Heil HC4/5 mic's will be no problem. 73, Eric WA6HHQ

Barry, I believe the K3 comes permanently wired for the Elecraft microphones, and that means there is a resistor between 5 volts and pin 1 (AF). If one wants to use a microphone that would object to having that voltage present on pin 1, a series DC blocking capacitor should be used. My reas

I thought the 5V went to pin 6. AF is pin 1. But I'm confident Elecraft have thought of this... Julian, G4ILO Barry McWilliams wrote: The wiring for the K2 MD-2, MH-2 microphones and the Heil headset has 5V applied to pin 1 through a 5.6k resistor. Will the K3 be able to supply 5V on pin 1 th

Thanks for the additional information in the FAQ about microphones. But I still have a question. The wiring for the K2 MD-2, MH-2 microphones and the Heil headset has 5V applied to pin 1 through a 5.6k resistor. Will the K3 be able to supply 5V on pin 1 through a 5k resistor via a jumper or s
