It appears that it would be simple to adapt the KXPD1 for use with the K1 by manufacturing a simple L-bracket that afixes to the KTS1 and would actually be cheaper than the bracket for the K2. That extra thumbscrew with the KTS1 can hold the bracket in place on the stand
I may have missed someone already doing this but I think that may be the way I go with my K1. I see Michael VE3WMB March 2005 suggested adapting the KXPD1-K2 so it could be mounted also on the K1...did this go any place?
