[Elecraft] Odd problem

2018-04-26 Thread Steve
I have K3 s/n 3400 plus which I’ve owned since. I have come across an odd problem. Occasionally when tuning across any band, the display suddenly jumps from 14023 to a frequency in the 80-100 MHz area. The only way to fix it is to turn the radio off and then back on. Of course, it is an intermi

Hi Steve; Your FPF, Front Panel Flash, is corrupt. Confirm by going to Config Menu "XV1 ON", then tap 1 thru 9 and you will probably see a transverter (usually 9) set to "YES" when you have none. Set all to "no" (unless you have one). Then RE-load just the FPF with the K3 Utility. Keith WE6R

[Elecraft] Odd problem on 160m

I put up a new 160m dipole and SSB signals sound like something is pumping with AGC in the slow mode. SSB Stations sound much better with fast AGC. I have a Dunstar 600 but since I am using the aux ant jack it's not in the receive circuit. Perhaps I should reconfigure to add the Dunstar. BTW, w

Dick, What firmware level are you using? There have been some AGC improvements lately. Also, try reducing the slope setting (CONFIG: AGC SLP) to the point where weaker signals produce slightly weaker audio than a strong signal. The dipole has more gain than the K9AY loop, so you may need to ad
